Continuing the Countdown!!

I am so excited!  We move in 9 days, and the house looks great!!  The landscaping is almost complete.  The lighting is installed.  The plumbers finish their work tomorrow.  The built-in cabinets in the living room go in this afternoon.  Our screened-in porch will be finished in the next few days.  Our fence goes in next week.  Then, it is a bunch of little things.

The pendant lighting over our kitchen island was installed today, and I am obsessed with it!!  Here is a picture that does not do the lighting justice.  I can't wait to share pictures of everything complete and cleaned.  :)

Below is a picture of the landscaping progress.  There will be more sod.  We will also have working black shutters on the front windows of the house, and the back yard will be fenced in.

We have our champagne ready to go!!!

Counting down!

I know it's been a while since I posted an update, and we have had several people ask us for one. So here you go.

We are in the final days of house building. In fact, we will be moving into our dream home in less than two weeks!!!  We are beyond excited!  We cannot wait to celebrate the Holidays in our new home!  The floors are in!
Above is the living room. There will be built-in cabinets on the wall pictured on the right.

The above picture is a quick shot of the master bedroom. We have hardwoods throughout with tile in the baths.

Above is the mater bath. The tile is darker than pictured. (It has some construction dust on it).

You can see all of the hardware is installed.

Also, the landscaping began today.

Lighting goes in tomorrow. They are finishing up the screened-in porch.  The appliances will also be delivered tomorrow. In addition to constantly checking on the progress at the house, we are busy packing and getting ready for the move!

Exciting times!!

The Counters are Going in!!!

I am in love with the countertops in our new house! They look amazing!!

Here is a picture of our kitchen island. (Still in progress. A bar will be added.)

Doesn't it look great with our apron sink?! I have always wanted a sink like this!  Obsessed!!

Our master bath (above) is beautiful with carerra marble.

Last but not least, the guest bath and Emerson's bath have recycled glass countertops with shell bits in it. This picture does not come close to doing these counters justice. They are gorgeous in person!!  Again, obsessed!!  And how good do these countertops look with the paint color?!  Love!!  This paint color is in all of the bathrooms and laundry room.  Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue.

We can't wait to move in!!!  5 weeks and counting!!!

Cabinets and Countertops

There is so much happening at the house right now!  There are about 4 or 5 different crews working as I type.  The cabinets are being installed, and we selected the slabs for the countertops.  See pictures below.  (The counters for Emerson's bathroom and the guest bathroom are coming from remnants so no pictures of those).

I am SO excited about the granite we found for the kitchen!!  It is brand new!  We will be the first to have it, and it is gorgeous in person!  The movement in it is unbelievable!!  (Can you tell I am excited?!)  It is called Mont Bleu, and I am in love with it!

The detail is incredible!  The pictures do not do this granite justice!  It is so eye-catching...we crossed three aisles when I saw this on display!  There is onyx and mother of pearl...it is truly stunning!  Look at this close-up:

Here is the other slab we will be using.  (Same granite but one slab up in the quarry).  Look at that movement!  I can't wait to see it installed!

Below is the slab for the master bath.  It is Carrera Marble.  You can see our cabinet and floor colors below the slab.  (The tile will be rectangle rather than square).

Next is the cabinets being installed.  I snapped these photos when I popped by the house this afternoon.  I didn't stay long so I could get out of the way.  It is crazy over there right now.  So exciting!!

Below is a picture of the kitchen cabinets being installed.  There will be an island in the center.  I love the shaker style doors.  (They kind of look beadboard in this picture, but they are not).

This is a picture of the master bath cabinets.  They are also shaker style.

This is a picture of the guest bath cabinets.  They are beadboard.  (Emerson's bath cabinets look the same but flipped...with the cabinet on the left and drawers on the right).

We cannot wait to move in!!

More Progress

The house is coming along.  They have started painting the exterior.  We are hoping the sheetrock begins next week.  Once that is complete the interior should go quickly.  We should have cabinets installed later this month, and the house will be complete sometime in November.  We can't wait to celebrate the holidays in our dream home!!
The front exterior:
There will be working, black, low country style shutters on all of the windows.

Beadboard ceilings on the porches:
These will be painted light blue.  Did you know it helps deter mosquitos?
(Plus I love the way it looks)!!

Back exterior:
Large back yard overlooking a lagoon.
The pillared porch will be screened in.

More back exterior:
The patio to the left will be our grilling patio and also home to Travis' Xmas present:
A New Hottub!

Thanks for following us while we build.  We appreciate the support and look forward to sharing our house with our friends and family!

XOXO

Interior Paint Colors

It was a very busy week with the house last week.  We had an electrical walk-through on Tuesday and a design meeting on Thursday.  We selected our interior paint colors in the Thursday meeting.  We love the builders we chose, May River Custom Homes: http://www.mayrivercustomhomes.com.  They are doing such a great job.  They are a husband and wife team (about our age), and the wife is a designer who studied at SCAD.  She has been such a wonderful help with finishes, paint colors and design selections.  Here are the paint colors:

In the main living area, foyer, kitchen, dining area, hallways (open floor plan) and garage we will have Benjamin Moore (BM) Edgecomb Gray, HC-173:

In the Office we will have BM Revere Pewter, HC-172, which is one shade darker than Edgecomb Gray.  Most people probably will not even be able to tell the difference between the two shades, but it will add a slight definition as you pass from one room to the next.  (Ignore the writing on the paint swatch.  I wanted them to all look the same, and this is the one I found online).  :)

In the bedrooms (Master, Emerson's and Guest) and closets we will have BM White Dove, OC-17:

The bathrooms (Master, Guest, Emerson's and Powder) and laundry room will be BM Woodlawn Blue, HC-147:

The ceilings will be BM White Dove flat and the trim will be BM White Dove semi gloss.

We are so excited to see all of the progress on our house, and we cannot wait to move in!!  Sign up now to come visit and stay in our guest room.  :)

Friday progress!

We have had lots of action on the house this week, but it is the kind of action that is difficult to capture via camera. The electricity is run throughout the house. They ductwork and furnace are installed. The rough-in plumbing fixtures are being installed, and the roofing and siding are in progress. We had lots of meetings this week, picked paint colors and got the final details squared away!!  So ready to be in this amazing house!!

Countertop Decisions.....

After a ton of flip-flopping.....I have finally decided on the counters!!!

I am so excited because we were able to get recycled glass remnants in the color I want for our guest bath and Emerson's bath!!  Here it is!!  It is called Ice Stone, and the color is Sky Pearl.  It is absolutely beautiful!!  It is an eco-friendly countertop made from recycled glass and in this case bits of shell.  It is going to look amazing in our nautical bathrooms!!

Below is the amazing nautical lighting going in these bathrooms (Emerson's and guest)....I ordered them with the gift card I won from Pottery Barn Kids!!

Our kitchen counters will be the cold spring granite on the left in the picture below: (This was a very tough decision for me).   :)

And the master bath will have White Carerra Marble:

We will be in our house by the end of November!!
